All it takes is a simple search for religion and politics to quickly learn of the debate that occurs worldwide in regards to the two topics being mentioned in the same sentence. Although many talk about the two together, it is often to stand up for the right to discuss religion with politics or to explain why the two do not belong together.
Needless to say, most would argue that religion and politics are not like peanut butter and jelly. They do not easily mesh together, but will always be something that people talk about. There is a great deal of public opinions regarding the issues as you can find organizations with an accomodationist view and a separationist view.

Unfortunately, religion and politics is just one of those issues that may never become resolved. There will always be people who feel religion should stay out of the public life while others feel it should be something that is embraced by everyone.
